Maumee Graduate Spotlight Antoinette Goode
Antoinette Goode, Practical Nursing Graduate, is an overcomer. She dreamed of becoming a Nurse at an early age and faced family challenges along the way, but remained committed and earned no less than fifteen A’s in her program!
"Prior to enrolling at Stautzenberger I took a leave of absence from my work as a State Tested Nursing Assistant due to COVID." says Antoinette. "My mother and grandmother are both immunocompromised and we needed to care for my grandmother living with dementia."
Antoinette, wanting to advance her career, enrolled in the Practical Nursing Program. "Being a nurse has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl."
Our program at Stautzenberger prepared her for her career by helping her understand the different systems of the body and how disease affects them.
"I am now able to assist my patients with coping with health issues, promoting a healthy lifestyle and ceasing unhealthy behaviors."
With the help of our Career Services Team, Antoinette was able to gain employment in her field quickly after graduation.
"Being in the field so soon was very rewarding," says Antoinette. "I began working with some very experienced nurses who taught me a lot of things and helped me get over my 'new nurse jitters.'"
Today, Antoinette is a Shift Charge Nurse in the Memory Support Wing of Spring Harbor at Islands Green in Columbus, Georgia.
"I love my new career. I'm still trying to figure out the path I want to take to grow my career even further, but until then, I'm enjoying taking care of our elderly population!"
