Stautzenberger is proud to present President’s List graduate Brandi Caruthers.  As a single-mother and older student, Brandi has had a lifetime to see how addiction can affect someone and how hard recovery can be.  Brandi also shared praise for our instructor, Dr. Cailyn Green as someone “who was amazing, always there for her and encouraging”.

What you Learn in Addiction Counseling Technician Courses

As an Associate’s degree, you will study both general core classes and classes dedicated to learning about Addiction Counseling.  You will take classes like History of American Government and Written Communication. You will also take specialized knowledge classes like Introduction to Addiction Counseling, Multicultural Counseling in Addiction, and Co-occurring Disorders.  In these classes, you will learn:

  • An overview of our own government history
  • How to successfully communicate in written form
  • An overview of issues in addiction counseling and issues it presents to other people
  • An awareness of alcohol and drugs in other cultures and dealing with different cultures and genders
  • Typical disorders that occur at the same time in different age groups
