Hands-On Surgical Training for Real OR Experience

Build the essential skills to support surgeons, maintain sterile fields, and assist with procedures in real OR settings through hands-on, career-focused training. Our blended approach combines classroom instruction, lab simulations, and clinical experience to help you feel confident and career-ready on day one.

  • Surgical Techniques & Procedures: Learn how to assist during surgeries, maintain sterile fields, and anticipate the surgeon’s needs.

  • Anatomy, Physiology & Microbiology: Understand the human body, infection control, and principles of aseptic technique.

  • Be at least 17 years old. (If under 18, a parent or legal guardian must also sign the enrollment agreement.)
  • Possess a high school diploma, recognized equivalency (GED, HiSET, TASC), or qualifying college degree.

Most programs are blended, combining scheduled on-campus classes with online coursework. This gives you the hands-on training you need — plus the flexibility to complete assignments at home.

You’ll typically take two classes every five weeks and should plan for 12–15 hours per week of homework and studying. Instructors also offer live virtual office hours for extra support.

Q: Do I need previous healthcare experience?

No. This program is designed for students new to the field. We’ll provide the training you need to succeed in the operating room.

Q: What are the admissions requirements?

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and complete an application. Additional screening, such as immunizations, background checks, and interviews, may be required for clinical placement.

Q: Will I be ready for certification?

Yes. The program prepares you to sit for the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) exam offered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

Q: Can I work while attending the program?

While the program is intensive, many students manage part-time work. Your externship and class schedule may vary by term, so talk to an advisor to plan accordingly.

The Surgical Technology program is programmatically accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). Prior to graduation, all students will be eligible to take the CST examination offered through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
