Q: What’s the difference between a vet tech and a veterinary assistant?
Veterinary technicians receive more advanced training and have greater clinical responsibilities than veterinary assistants. Vet techs assist in surgeries, perform lab tests, administer anesthesia, and support veterinarians in diagnosing and treating animals.
Q: What are the admissions requirements for the Vet Tech program?
To apply, you’ll need to meet the college’s general admissions criteria, submit a short essay about your interest in veterinary technology, and provide proof of rabies vaccination.
Q: Is this program available online?
No. Due to the hands-on nature of the training and clinical externship, the Veterinary Technician program is offered in person at our campus.
Q: How often will I be in the lab or working with animals?
You’ll participate in lab-based learning throughout the program and engage in hands-on animal care regularly, especially during clinical courses and your externship.
Q: What kinds of animals will I work with during the program?
You’ll gain experience with a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, exotic pets, livestock, and lab animals. This broad exposure prepares you for different veterinary environments.
