How to Apply for Financial Aid
Your Career. Your Future.
Stautz Strong.
At Stautzenberger College, our Financial Aid team is committed to helping you fund your education with as little stress as possible.
Whether you’re applying for the first time or returning to school, this step-by-step guide will help you understand the process and make sure
you’re taking full advantage of the financial aid available to you.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) is the starting point for all federal financial aid, including grants, loans, and work-study.
Apply online: studentaid.gov
School code for Stautzenberger College: 004866
Need help? You can complete the FAFSA with assistance from a financial aid advisor at our campus.
Tip: Submit your FAFSA as early as possible to maximize your eligibility for grants and aid awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Once your FAFSA is submitted, schedule a one-on-one session with a Rockford financial aid advisor. They will:
Review your FAFSA results
Discuss your eligibility for grants, loans, and work-study
Help you compare aid packages
Walk you through next steps
This is a great opportunity to ask questions and get a customized plan that works for you.
Depending on your eligibility and funding source, you may need to complete:
Entrance Counseling (for first-time loan borrowers)
Master Promissory Note (MPN)
Verification documents, if requested
Scholarship applications or third-party funding forms
Our team will guide you through each form and requirement.
Once your aid package is finalized, you’ll receive an award letter detailing the amount and types of aid you’re eligible to receive. You’ll then:
Accept or decline each type of aid (grants are automatically accepted)
Set up payment arrangements for any remaining tuition
Get ready for class!
