On September 20, 2026, the streets of downtown Toledo came alive with runners of all ages and skill levels for the Garmin Toledo Marathon. Known for its fast, mostly flat course, the event offers something for everyone—from a full marathon and half-marathon to a 10K and 5K.

Participants raced past some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including Hensville, the Toledo Museum of Art, the Maumee River, and the Toledo Zoo, before crossing the finish line near Maumee Bay Brewing Co. Along the way, they experienced Toledo’s vibrant neighborhoods and scenic beauty, from the Glass City Metropark to the W.W. Knight Nature Preserve.

Among this year’s runners was Dr. Todd Wildey, Dean of Stautzenberger College in Maumee, OH. Running the 13.1-mile race, Dr. Wildey crossed the finish line with a time of 2:15:13. But his run was about more than personal achievement—it was about setting an example.

Dr. Wildey’s participation was a message to his students: anything is possible with determination and effort. His perseverance on the course mirrors the same encouragement he gives students at Stautzenberger College—whether they’re pursuing a new career path, overcoming challenges, or striving toward their personal best.

The Garmin Toledo Marathon celebrates both community and resilience, and Dr. Wildey’s run embodies both. As runners pushed past their limits on race day, they reminded us that success—whether in education, career, or running—comes one determined step at a time.
