Emergency Procedures

Tornado
In the event of a tornado, all students and staff must move to the interior rooms of the building, away from all windows. They are to assume a crouched position under a table surface until an “all clear” is given.

Fire or smoke
In the event of fire or smoke, the emergency alarm system (sound and strobe) will be automatically triggered. Every room in the facility is equipped with an emergency exit route prominently displayed. All students must move to the closest exit and make their way to the back of the parking lot. Designated staff will first ensure the safety of students. Once the building is vacant, if possible, animals will be removed from the kennels to the west side of the parking lot. Emergency services will be contacted through the emergency alarm system and by cell phone from a secure and safe location. Emergency responders are aware of the presence of animals and will work to secure their safety.

Firearms or weapons
In the event there is an emergency involving firearms or other weapons, the classrooms will be notified. All students and staff should secure the doors, and place as many barriers between themselves and the source of the danger as is feasible. They are to remain there until the “all clear” has been given. Emergency services will be contacted.

All other emergencies
In the event that there is any other kind of emergency that is not otherwise delineated above that requires immediate evacuation of the building, you will be notified by management staff to evacuate the building immediately. Every room in the facility is equipped with an emergency exit route prominently displayed. Emergency services will be contacted.
