What Dental Assistants Contribute
On July 21, 2020

When you think of a career in a dental practice, what do you picture? The dentist? The scheduling coordinator? Although all members of a dental practice's team are vital, dental assistants are frequently overlooked. However, their efforts lead to far-reaching effects for the dental practice as a whole.

A survey conducted by Association Laboratory highlighted the major contributions of dental assistants to their practices. Significant findings included the following: 72% of dental assistants help place orders for the office; 99% of practices allow assistants to have complete control over the sterilization processes; and 91% of dentists say that “an effective dental assistant makes it more likely that a patient will accept the dentist-recommended treatment plan."1 Additionally, the survey concluded that dental assistants are necessary for developing a faithful client base, preventing dentists from becoming overburdened, increasing the number of patients seen per day, helping patients feel comfortable, informing patients about products, and maximizing productivity.1

What does all this mean for you? Dental assisting is an important, rewarding career that you should consider if you are ready for a change. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts an 11% increase in dental assistant positions between 2018 and 2028, so now is a great time to consider a diploma program.2 Stautzenberger College offers a diploma program that blends online instruction, hands-on training, and an externship with a local practice. Best of all, you could complete it in as little as ten months!

You have so much to offer to your local dental practice. Call 888.859.8225 or submit our Request Information form online to learn how to get started. You could be part of a team that brings positive change to your own community.
