What Dental Assistants Contribute

A survey conducted by Association Laboratory highlighted the major contributions of dental assistants to their practices. Significant findings included the following: 72% of dental assistants help place orders for the office; 99% of practices allow assistants to have complete control over the sterilization processes; and 91% of dentists say that “an effective dental assistant makes it more likely that a patient will accept the dentist-recommended treatment plan."¹ Additionally, the survey concluded that dental assistants are necessary for developing a faithful client base, preventing dentists from becoming overburdened, increasing the number of patients seen per day, helping patients feel comfortable, informing patients about products, and maximizing productivity.¹
