We Proudly Present Business Administration Graduate Anthony Lyons

“Nothing comes to a sleeper but a dream!” This quote inspired Anthony Lyons to take action and train for a new career. “I've always felt I was a leader, and I knew I wanted to own my own business, so I figured this would be a start,” recalls Anthony. To accomplish this dream, he enrolled in Stautzenberger College's business administration program.  Understanding the value of an associate degree, Anthony continued his education. He completed both the diploma and AAS programs in just 17 months and is now ready to take on any challenge.

Due to various life changes, keeping up with his courses was sometimes difficult for Anthony. “I overcame quite a few challenges, such as working, tending to my children, covid, and the loss of my grandfather,” he explains. Still, he persevered and earned his business administration diploma. However, he did not stop there. Anthony then enrolled in our Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration program. Encouraged by his family, Anthony completed the program. “My children are my biggest motivators, and I tell them, 'If you start something, finish it.' My wife and grandfather pushed me the most and were my biggest supporters,” he says. We are so proud of Anthony for taking his career to the next level and graduating with not only his diploma but also his associate degree

What You Learn in a Business Administration AAS Program

Our business administration program is designed to provide students with relevant, in-demand skills. Our AAS program goes beyond by allowing students to complete an advanced level of course work in their chosen field and develop general education skill sets in areas such as English, history, and math. For each graduate of a program, we highlight three different courses. During the program, Anthony took courses such as: Marketing for Managers, Digital Communication Strategies, and Organizational Strategic Planning.

In these courses, he learned about:

  • Product policy, pricing, promotion, distribution, sales management, and customer segmentation and retention
  • The appropriate formats, styles, and protocols for communicating through various electronic media, including email, fax, social media, and file uploads/downloads; the use of digital communications in various business applications, including marketing, promotion, fundraising, and other processes; and the legal, ethical, privacy, and security implications associated with all forms of electronic communication
  • Strategic planning, theories, methods, and group processes in different organization environments

In addition to business administration-related subjects, Anthony completed general education courses such as Introduction to Psychology and Life Science to fulfill associate degree requirements.
