We could not be prouder of Dean’s List graduate Meagan Mallory.  She always knew she loved ultrasound - and seeing her first son on the ultrasound simply confirmed what she knew and felt all along.  She has worked long and hard as a mother of two with a disabled Veteran husband at home.  As she says, “The work was hard, but the outcome was worth it.”

What you Learn in our Applied Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program

Sonographers work both in hospitals and doctor’s offices to take images inside of a person.  They also get the exciting job of looking at a fetus in development.  Because Stautzenberger’s program is an associate degree, you will learn general class information like Introduction to Psychology and Oral Communication.  You will also learn specialized information for Sonography in classes like Ultrasound Physics, Anatomy and Physiology, and Basic Health Care Skills with CPR Certification.  In these classes, you will learn:

  • The history and leading theories in the field of Psychology
  • Skills and practice needed for excellent oral communication
  • The structure and parts of the human body
  • The process and components of an ultrasound and the machine itself
  • Overview of skills needed in healthcare field and the agencies involved
