(also the chair for MA) Driven by her desire to help others, Mari Ann decided to make a career change. After graduating from Professional Skills Institute in 2006, she finally became a licensed practical nurse. This allowed her to give back to her community like she had always dreamed. Her work experience consisted of caring for patients in a variety of settings. Mari Ann spent many years as a hospice nurse, maintaining national certifications in hospice and palliative care as well as hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Additionally, she held the title of Safety Director for Mercy Health.

As her career progressed, Mari Ann discovered that she loved to teach. She ignited a passion for learning in others. Six years ago, she decided to bring that talent to Maumee Campus. Today, she is the program chair for our medical assisting program. “My greatest joy is watching a student graduate, knowing they have the knowledge and skills to start a new chapter in their life,” Mari Ann says.

Since our instructors have worked in their field for years, their teachings incorporate real-life examples, making it easier to apply your new knowledge in the real-world setting.
