Graduate Highlight - Taylor Cope
On June 07, 2019

Have you searched for entry-level jobs but found that they required previous related experience? We know how important it is for you to have experience in your chosen career field in addition to education. That's why our veterinary technician program includes an externship that allows you to practice what you have learned in the classroom. Taylor Cope, Stautzenberger College graduate, found that this made an enormous difference in finding the right job for her.

Ms. Cope started her career journey at Maumee Campus. Excited to finally begin a career helping animals and their owners, she found the veterinary technician program instructors to be extremely supportive along the way. “I had a great experience with Stautzenberger!” says Ms. Cope. “I loved my hands-on classes, and the instructors were super helpful!” Besides studying topics such as Veterinary Medical Terminology, Radiology, and Animal Clinical Procedures, she completed an externship at Bryan Area Animal Hospital.

In the end, persevering brought its rewards. “I did land a job with MedVet Toledo in April of 2018,” says Ms. Cope. She did find it challenging to work while attending school. “I had to manage working a third shift job at MedVet and then come in for my classes first thing in the morning,” she recalls. However, by the time she graduated from the program in December of 2018, she already had hands-on experience with two different clinics. Ms. Cope is thrilled to have a career doing what she loves and experience to take with her wherever she goes in the future.

We hope Ms. Cope's story inspired you.
