Graduate Highlight - Sara Dixon - Animal Welfare Administration
On October 03, 2019

“Life is short, so you should spend it doing what you love.” That was what recent Stautzenberger College graduate Sara Dixon decided when she chose animal welfare administration as her career.

Ms. Dixon's lifelong love for animals inspired her to begin a new career program. During our online program, she studied topics such as Foundational Principles of Animal Health and Nutrition, Comparative Animal Anatomy & Physiology, Animal Facility Management, Client Communication, and more. “My favorite instructor was Dr. Danya Linehan,” says Ms. Dixon. “She always made the material fun, and she was always available.”

Outside of school, however, Ms. Dixon struggled with family matters. “My mom suffered a severe stroke, but the school helped me get through that tough time,” recalls Ms. Dixon. While caring for her mother, Ms. Dixon continued to study and prepare for her future. “Never doubt your ability,” she encourages future students. “You've got this!”

Selecting a career path could be tough, but it's vital to choose what truly interests you. Doing what you love could provide you with a sense of meaning as opposed to working only for the money. When you visit a restaurant or store, don't you gravitate toward employees who are passionate about their professions? You notice the difference and so do others.

We hope Ms. Dixon's story inspired you.
