Graduate Highlight - Ndey Matson - Practical Nursing
On August 16, 2019

“Never doubt yourself!” Learning to believe in these words took plenty of patience and willpower for Ndey M., but the results were well worth the effort for her. She applied herself during Stautzenberger College's practical nursing program and tapped into potential she never realized she had.

Ndey was inspired to pursue her career passion by the residents of Filling Homes, “a faith based not for profit organization that provides services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities” in Ohio.1 The encouragement she received from the residents was only magnified by the many instructors she met in the practical nursing program. She would like to thank her instructors and all of the other faculty members who helped her along her career journey. With their help, she was able to flourish in Fundamentals of Nursing, Pharmacology, Nutrition, and numerous other courses.

During the program, Ndey faced a number of challenges. She was “constantly feeling ill” as well as “juggling work, school, kids, doctor's appointments, and school.” However, keeping her focus on the goal allowed her to succeed in the end. Ndey was placed at a job at Filling Homes as a nursing assistant. With her new diploma, she is ready to go wherever her career takes her. “Never doubt yourself!” she says. “It always seems impossible until it gets done.”

We hope Ndey's story inspired you. You might click out of this window. You might go about your day and forget that you read this. You may push off submitting the request information form until later; but, in five years, will you regret not taking action today?
