Graduate Highlight - John Hoak

Who was your favorite teacher in elementary school? How about in high school? It's amazing how certain instructors evoke strong memories and determine whether or not we have positive academic experiences. Mentors who dedicate additional time to tutoring, incorporate real-life applications into their lessons, and demonstrate compassion often turn difficult subjects into enjoyable ones. At Stautzenberger College, we believe that quality instructors are crucial to student success. That is what John Hoak II also found as he studied at Maumee Campus.

Once enrolled in our Diploma in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration program, Mr. Hoak found encouragement from a number of staff members. “I actually had three instructors who inspired me,” says Mr. Hoak. “I feel they were an all-star team of instructors. Their names are Mr. Calton, Mr. Knitz, and Mr. Tom Deitemyer.” With their guidance, Mr. Hoak was able to succeed in classes such as HVAC Air Delivery Systems, Fundamentals of Welding and Heat Pumps, and Troubleshooting HVAC.

Mr. Hoak graduated and is now ready to live out his dream thanks to his mentors. “Always stay positive,” he advises.
