Employer Highlight: Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital
On April 26, 2018

Interested in veterinary technician training but unsure of where you will work after graduation? Stautzenberger College partners with local employers who provide externships and jobs to students. If you live near the Brecksville Campus, Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital is one such employer helping graduates live out their passion.

Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital was designed to treat animals with the same levels of care and dignity that human patients receive. A Central Hospital, it offers 24-hour emergency and outpatient care to assist as many pets as possible. The attentive, compassionate, and competent staff has been saving lives since the hospital's inception in 1968.

Externships are part of your hand-on coursework completed off-campus.  Externships, with Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital prepare students for their post-graduation careers. Students are given high-volume caseloads to practice what they have learned in class. They are mentored one-on-one with experienced technicians, VTS-certified technicians, and senior clinicians. Through exposure to emergency medicine, cardiology, internal medicine, and surgery/neurology, students are able to further develop their skills. Successful externs can either find positions with Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital or be prepared for wherever they go next. Brecksville students have thoroughly enjoyed externships at this hospital and frequently request permanent positions.
