Brecksville Meet Our Instructor: Mary Kay Casler
On February 23, 2021

Living on a farm surrounded by horses, Mary Kay Casler developed a love for animals early in life. Although many people adore animals, not everyone turns caring for pets into a profession. Mary Kay joined the Stautzenberger College team to show students how to help animals as part of a rewarding career.

Mary Kay knew exactly what she wanted to do in life because of her family farm in Poland, Ohio. In 1987, Mary Kay earned her associate degree in animal health science from Columbus Technical Institute. After graduation, she worked as a full-time veterinary technician for nine years. In 1996, she purchased a pet food store that she owned and operated for 10 years while working part-time as a technician. Mary Kay also participated in 4-H for nine years, later becoming an advisor. In 2005, she enrolled as a part-time student at Youngstown State University. She graduated in 2009 with her Bachelor of Science degree in biology.

Soon, Mary Kay felt called to inspire and train future technicians. In 2009, she began her teaching career. Mary Kay taught at several different colleges while working at an emergency veterinary clinic. On top of it all, she volunteered at Angels for Animals from 2000 to 2011. In April 2019, Mary Kay arrived at Brecksville Campus. She is now the program chair for our veterinary technician associate degree program, and she couldn't be happier with the career she chose.

Since our instructors have worked in their field for years, their teachings incorporate real-life examples, making it easier to apply your new knowledge in the real-world setting.   Whether you are interested in the Veterinary Technician Associate Degree Program or one of the many other programs offered at our College, please contact us today.
