Animal Welfare & Management - Brecksville Campus

Stautzenberger College's Associate of Applied Science Degree in Animal Welfare and Management is designed to provide learners with the core knowledge, skills and attitudes required for employment in animal care and management industries, with a primary focus on the companion animal sector. This program is 100% delivered in a distance-based online format.

Program courses and instruction are designed around a Tri-Core Animal Studies Curriculum which includes coursework in Animal Science, Animal Welfare and Animal Operations Management.

The curriculum is designed to educate students (1) in the care and management of domestic and exotic species, (2) provide exposure to fundamental principles in animal husbandry, animal law, and animal welfare and ethics and (3) provide instruction in business operations and management. Each of which, serves to focus the student on the essentials skills and knowledge related to the operation of safe, healthy, and sustainable animal care facilities.

Banking, Investment & Finance Associate of Applied Business - Maumee Campus

The Banking, Investment and Finance Associates degree program will provide a quality education in the principles and practices of banking, investment and finance. The foundational elements will include an understanding of money management, financial markets, interest rates, securities, risks, investments and lending. An emphasis will be placed on ethics in the business environment, as well as focusing on practical application in communication, technology, customer service and teamwork.

The Banking, Investment & Finance Associates Degree program is designed to provide basic instructional information needed to start at the entry level in this business field.

Graduates of this program are qualified to work in banking institutions, investment firms, accounting practices, financial consulting firms and mortgage lending companies. The normal time to complete this program for a full-time student is 24 months.

Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Diploma - Maumee Campus

The Medical Billing and Coding Specialist program is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform the functions of a medical biller/coder and to understand the professional and ethical responsibilities.

Courses in computer billing applications, administrative procedures and medical law, along with courses in CPT, ICD-9-CM, and HCPS coding, processing insurance claims, and retrieving information from medical documents train the student for the billing and coding profession. In addition, during their first quarter students take a computer course which familiarizes them with computer hardware and software, Internet skills, software applications, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation programs.

By emphasizing ethics and respect for the medical profession, service to the community, and advancement through practical application, the student is prepared to enter the medical billing and coding profession.

Offering this program online affords students flexibility in scheduling their studies to better align with their job and family responsibilities. An online program is more accessible to students who live too far from the campus and might have transportation or child care concerns.

The student completes the coursework necessary to prepare for the national voluntary Certified Professional Coding exam administered by the American Academy of Professional Coders.

Small Animal Massage Therapy - Brecksville Campus

The curriculum is a hybrid educational program that combines online and practical hands-on training. The course includes emphasis in 6 learning domains and matches and/or exceeds the curriculum guidelines set forth by the National Board Certification for Animal Acupressure & Massage. The curriculum meets or exceeds the minimum of 50 hours of training in anatomy & physiology, kinesiology (for massage) and pathologies; meets or exceeds 50 hours of supervised, in-class, hands-on work, which would include assessment and treatment, benefits of massage/acupressure, and practice guidelines; and the remaining 100 hours is divided among classes such as business, ethics, behavior, safety, etc. The National Board Certification for Animal Acupressure & Massage recognizes distance learning as an acceptable model of delivery for any "lecture" class such as anatomy & physiology, business and ethics. However, hands-on classes such as massage techniques, assessment, acupoint and meridian locations must be taught in an in-class supervised setting.

Veterinary Office Assistant - Brecksville Campus

Our online Veterinary Office Assistant Certificate (VOAC) has been designed as a short-term 16 week online experience that prepares graduates to provide effective veterinary office administration and to serve as a vital members of the veterinary health care team. This program provides emphasis on activities relating to veterinary office administration, financial procedures relevant to veterinary practice, communicating effectively and compassionately with clients, managing medical records, budgeting, marketing, managing inventory, and common health issues in veterinary practice. Please note that this is an online instuctor lead course. This program is designed to prepare the student to take the Veterinary Office Assistant Certification (CVOA) exam through the National Career Certification Board.
