100_5598.jpgDuring the week of February 9, Stautzenberger College Medical Technology students and instructors volunteered to work at Westfield Shopping Center to help the Lucas County Health Department as they registered, weighed, and reviewed handout/instructional materials to participants in the Million Pound Challenge. This free county-wide weight loss promotional event will span a one-year time period in which Lucas County participants are encouraged to lose weight and maintain healthier lifestyles.

Andrew Z from 92.5 KISS-FM has been named the Lucas County Weight Loss Czar and he, along with Lucas County Commissioner Ben Konop and other important community partners, will lead the charge to shed pounds on the radio and throughout the community.

Goals of the program are:
• Lose at least one million pounds collectively this year
• Educate our residents about healthy eating and weight-loss strategies
• Highlight the numerous fitness opportunities in Lucas County
• Raise awareness about the negative health impacts of being overweight or obese
• Save our residents time, money, and energy.

Stautzenberger students and instructors were praised by organizers for being extremely professional and prepared. Thank you to all who participated, and good luck to those who enrolled!
