Stautzenberger Helps With Low Cost Rabies Vaccinations
Stautzenberger College and Lucas County Health Department teamed up on September 27, 2008 to provide low cost rabies vaccinations for over 200 dogs and cats. The vaccines and equipment were provided by the Health Department. Two veterinarians, two registered veterinary technicians, and one veterinary technology student were on hand to administer the vaccines and restrain the animals. The vaccination clinic took place on the front lawn of the Health Department with two stations, which helped make the process run efficiently. As a result of this event there were a large number of animals protected against rabies that would not have been protected otherwise and a group of owners who were excited to be able to obtain this health care for their pets. The Veterinary Technology Program of Stautzenberger College was pleased to be a part of this clinic and will continue to be involved in future community events.
