2007 OFFICIAL RULES

-One entry per wiener dog. All dogs MUST BE PRE-REGISTERED PRIOR TO EVENT.
-Two humans are required for each wiener dog entered, one at the starting line and one at the finish line.
-All humans involved must sign a consent and waiver releasing Stautzenberger College from all liabilities and to use their names and likenesses in future promotional material.
-Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times when not racing or preparing to race.
-NO FOOD will be permitted in the racing area. This includes any kind of doggy treat. Nothing edible will be allowed. Humans may use bells, whistles, toys etc. to coax dogs to finish line.
-Humans should secure loose items before entering the racing area such as sunglasses, cigarettes, keys, etc. Event organizers cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen or broken items.
-Humans and dog must report to designated area 10 minutes prior to scheduled race. A board will be posted that will display race participants and start time. All participants not in competition must remain outside of restricted race area until 10 minutes prior to race.
-Humans at start will hold dog behind starting line until start signal is given. Dogs that start before start signal is given will receive credit for finishing last in that race.
-Starting humans may follow behind dogs during race, but may not touch or interfere with any dog still racing and must remain behind the slowest dog on the course. Humans at finish must remain entirely behind designated line past the finish line until ALL dogs have crossed the finish line.
-Dogs will be provided with a colored doggy bandana to identify them in the race. Upon completion of the wiener dog race, all participants must return immediately to the designated finish area. Return the doggy bandana to track personnel.
-Winners will transfer into later races. Please do not enter if you cannot stay the entire day.
-The purpose of this event is to have FUN. Judges decisions are final and not open to discussion. For the safety of everyone concerned, event organizers reserve the right to refuse participation to humans who cannot follow the rules.
- There is a $5 entry fee per dog for this year’s event. All dogs must be pre-registered. Checks can be made out to Dog Days of September and returned along with entry form to Wiener Dog Nationals, C/O Stautzenberger College, 1796 Indian Wood Circle, Maumee, OH 43537.
-Prizes will be awarded.
-All entrants must be real wieners (dachshunds) and may be required to show proof of current bordetella, distemper and rabies shots upon request.
-Rules subject to change. Please pay attention to event personnel before and after each race.
-Failure to follow rules may result in disqualification.
-Check in time will be from 10am-10:45am the day of the event.
-Only dogs that check in will be eligible to race. First race will begin at 11am.
